Now being sold by Telus Mobility in Canada and Sprint Nextel in the United States, UTStarcom’s PPC-6700 is a truly versatile device that combines the functions of a mobile smartphone and handheld computer into a single unit.

Equipped with the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system and a cool sliding keyboard, this device is a great mobile computing solution, and has been described as a “pocket laptop” by Laptop Magazine.

A MicroSD card slot is a handy way to load your digital pictures or MP3s onto the device, and 4.7 hours of battery life allow for plenty of use before reaching for the USB charger.

As a CDMA and EV-DO enabled smartphone, the PPC-6700 is also a great choice for both voice and data communication while on the road. Getting on the internet is easy from wherever you are. Integrated Wi-Fi lets you tap in to the existing wireless network at your home or office, while the EV-DO allows you to download data at broadband-level speeds over your cellular network.

One notable disadvantage would have to be the dimly lit display, which you won’t notice indoors, but is virtually impossible to use outside on a sunny day.

In terms of pure performance and functionality, however, the PPC-6700 is a great option for business, entertainment, and travel alike. It’s mix of features is unique and represents some of the best vale in today’s handheld device market.
